Mazun Gateway · Saudi ID masking

Saudi IDs, Iqamas and IBANs in supported chat text are masked before a model sees them

Mazun Gateway sits between your staff and the model. In supported chat text it masks national ID and Iqama numbers, IBANs and other details, then puts names back in the answer.

PII masking

See chat text with national IDs and Iqama numbers masked first.

  1. Your staff

    Ask in Mazun Chat

Onboarding files, letters for resident staff and payment queries: everyday work with real details in it.

  2. Mazun Gateway

Masks supported sensitive data in chat text, including national ID and Iqama patterns and IBANs, applies your policies, and stops the request if a check can’t run.

  3. The model

Only masked chat text and permitted files reach the model

Names come back in the answer, so staff still get a usable reply.

Try it: type a name, a national ID, an Iqama or an IBAN.

Nothing you type leaves this page.

Behind the scenes, the model receives

Reply to [PERSON], national ID [NATIONAL_ID], and copy his manager on [EMAIL].

Restored in the answer; staff never see a tag

3 details masked, then restored

  • [PERSON]Khalid Al Otaibi
  • [NATIONAL_ID]1012345678
  • [EMAIL]khalid.o@example.sa

Illustrative: pattern matching, not validation. This demo spots a few common formats in your browser; it is not the product’s detector. Mazun Gateway does the real masking inside your deployment.

Scope

What is masked in Saudi chat text, and what is not

Mazun Gateway inspects supported chat text before it is forwarded to a model provider. This page covers three formats it recognises, Saudi national ID numbers, Iqama numbers and IBANs, and what happens to them.

National ID and Iqama numbers

Both are ten-digit numbers. A Saudi national ID starts with 1 and an Iqama, the number for a foreign resident, starts with 2. Mazun recognises each pattern in supported chat text and masks it before a request reaches a model.

The IBAN

Saudi IBANs are recognised by their layout and masked in the same way, along with other bank and card numbers.

Also masked

  • Names, mobile numbers and email addresses.
  • Employee and customer numbers, dates of birth and addresses.
  • Private keys and common API keys and access tokens.

What pattern matching means

Mazun finds the format; it does not check that a number is genuine or has been issued, and the lists above are not a complete account of every kind of personal data. Any other ten-digit number that starts with 1 or 2 can be masked too, and a number in an unusual form can be missed.

What the model and your staff see

For supported chat text, the model provider you approve receives masked text only. Names come back in the answer so the reply still reads naturally; the tags the model sees, such as [PERSON], are never shown to staff. Chat history stays in your deployment.

What masking does not do

Masking applies to supported chat text. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files are checked before a model sees them, and images and voice are not inspected. It reduces exposure; it does not remove every risk, and it is not a certification.

Questions

Questions on Saudi masking

What does Mazun Gateway mask for Saudi teams?

In supported chat text: national ID and Iqama numbers, IBANs, names, phone numbers, emails, card numbers, employee and customer IDs, dates of birth and addresses. Private keys and common API keys are caught too. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files are checked before a model sees them.

Does Mazun tell a national ID from an Iqama?

By pattern only: a ten-digit number starting with 1 is read as a national ID and one starting with 2 as an Iqama. Mazun does not check that either was issued, and the list of what is masked is not exhaustive.

Can an ordinary number be masked by mistake?

Yes. Any other ten-digit number that starts with 1 or 2 can be masked, because the pattern is the same. That is the cost of matching on format rather than validating.

What happens if a check cannot run?

The request is blocked and does not go to the model. Mazun does not pass it through unchecked.

Where does masking run?

In your deployment: a dedicated one for each customer, in your cloud, on a virtual machine on your premises, or hosted by us. For supported chat text, the model provider you approve receives masked text only.
